Artist statement

Invisible Sun is run by Lucy Wilkinson, a designer dedicated to the physicality of printmaking and the promotion of hand skills and craftsmanship.

Theory and research are fundamental aspects of my work and my specific focus is on drawing, wood based printmaking and non-adhesive bookbinding. I like to evoke reflection, tranquility and peace in my work through soft unfocused imagery, texture and tactility. I believe in using all of the senses in making, approaching my practice in a meditative manner. Working with paper, wood, graphite and ink, I allow the intrinsic characteristics of the materials to shine through.

This blog forms a record of experimentation, investigation and the odd philosophical musing (because I won't be able to help myself!) Questions, comments and feedback are very welcome. I believe in collaborative practice.

I am currently an MA Design student studying in the North of England.
